Hi everybody. I'm back from really slacking off from the blog over the holidays. This week, it's just a few random thoughts. How many people are sick at your home, office or school? Seems like everyone in this newsroom is fighting some sort of bug right now. My symptoms are a sore throat, tiredness and aches and pains. I have no congestion, but my nose only runs at night. Wierd, isn't it? Alison Struve blows her nose so much she sounds like a foghorn. Stephanie Luisier and chief photographer Randy Bise both have that "sick sound" when they talk. Was it just me or did the Badgers seem a little unfocused and unprepared for their bowl game? Perhaps it's the long layoff between their last regular season game and the contest on January 1. It was a sort of a fun game to watch, even if it was rather sloppily played.
Perseverance paid off for 8 inductees
There will be a common theme tonight when the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame welcomes eight new members. Perseverance. Hockey's Mike Bossy and Cassie Campbell, football's Doug Flutie, wrestler Daniel Igali, Olympic cross-country skier Beckie Scott, baseball's Larry Walker and sports pioneers Sam Jacks and Robert Steadward all overcame obstacles and doubters to reach the pinnacle of their sports or to make sports more accessible to others. .

COMPUTER’S MORE THAN JOEL CAN BEAR
US teams won the women's and senior events and lost in the Bermuda Bowl final. Today's deal caused consternation in the semifinals of every event. Two North-South pairs got to seven hearts, and East had a chance to be a hero by leading the jack of spades. But when East led a trump, South could take the ace and 10 and return to his hand with the king of spades to draw trumps. Three North-Souths reached seven spades, and West led a club: 10, jack, ace. Two declarers then cashed the A-Q of trumps. When East discarded, declarer tried the A-K of hearts, and West ended matters by ruffing. Could you make seven spades? In the Senior Bowl, a Brazilian declarer led a trump to the dummy's king at the second trick (guarding against J-10-7-4 with East) and ran all his trumps.
Hip-Hop Rumors: Bump J FREE!?! Jim Jones' Reality Show? Mike Jones ...
I was all hyped up to see Jim Jones in the reality show they were filming on VH1, but I don't know what's become of it. It is going around that there was tension between Jim and the producers of the show. There is no such thing as a true reality show, but there is something called “scripted reality." That's what Run and the family do. And that works for some, but Jim Jones is the real deal. I heard he just wasn't with the script and wasn't able to flip it to fit his mode of operation. All the filming is supposedly done, but the editing is very tricky with a reality-based stickler like Jim Jones the Capo. BUMP J IS FREE! I'll never forget bumpin' Chicagorilla, Bump J's mixtape. I was waiting for the official album.
