Councilman MikeK Recalls Knievel Action Figure

Top: Young MikeK playing with Evel Knievel action figure; bottom: MikeK receives inspiration from his childhood friends before leaving for a Coeur d'Alene City Council meeting.

I had a classic Evel Knievel motorcycle riding action figure when I was a kid. The stunts my brothers and I would stage for that motorcycle toy were legendary (riding out a second story window, chasing the dog around the house without getting chewed to ribbons, you name it). RIP Evel. I wonder what happened to Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man who played the role of Evel's arch-nemesis in the boyhood action figure wars?/Councilman MikeK.

Question: What was your favorite action figure/doll when you were little?

Packers, Giants Fans Ready To Take On Cold

The hand warmers that many fans commented on are in high demand but thanks to a corporate donation, they won't be hard to find come game time. Mills Fleet Farm donated 30,000 hand warmers to the Green Bay Packers, and they will be distributed to fans as they enter the gate for Sunday's game. .

How boobonomics explains the world

A friend who spends his life negotiating with the agents of glamour models explained to me the principles of "boobonomics". Let's assume a pretty girl, who has been snapped in her bikini for a local newspaper, seeks a big-time career. Her agent phones a men's magazine and proposes for a given sum, say £3,000, that she pose in lingerie.

If she's a hit with the readers, her agent will then suggest that for a greater sum, say £5,000, she will pose topless, but with her nipples concealed by her cupped fingers ("hand bra"). Subsequently her fee will rise for each coy permutation: "hair bra" or "girl-on-girl bra" (two models face to face shielding each other's breasts). Eventually, once this dance of the seven thongs has been exhausted and readers are believed to be slavering with anticipation, the agent will propose that for a huge sum say £50,000 the girl will finally reveal all.

Holmes of Steel Curtain dies

RAMS OWNERS DIES Georgia Frontiere, the St. Louis native who became a hometown hero when she brought the NFL's Rams from Los Angeles in 1995, died Friday. She was 80.

Frontiere had been hospitalized for breast cancer for several months, the Rams said in a statement posted on their Web site.

"Our mom was dedicated to being more than the owner of a football team," daughter Lucia Rodriguez and son Chip Rosenbloom said in the statement.

"She loved the Rams' players, coaches, and staff. The warmth and generosity she exuded will never be forgotten."

The one-time nightclub singer was married seven times, starting at age 15. Her sixth husband, Carroll Rosenbloom, owned the Los Angeles Rams at the time of his drowning death in 1979.

The Rams moved twice under Frontiere's leadership, first relocating from the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1980 to Anaheim, 35 miles away.

Around The Campaign 2008 Sphere

Another in our series of special Election 2008 editions of our popular Around The Sphere link-fest where we offer readers links to weblogs of differing viewpoints — and give you our comments on some of the political issues raised. This version will only contain election-related links. It will appear several times a week until Election Day.

The Great Confederate Flag Controversy Surfaces In South Carolina (Again) and lo and behold it's again being used against Arizona Senator John McCain who's losing ground to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee who — coincidentally — is coming out in favor of it waving there (apparently forever). Booker Rising, a site that bills itself as a "news site for black moderates and black conservatives' but must be required reading for everyone, writes this:

However, I'll take on Mr.

So, get out there, support the Mountaineers and share your fun with ...

You don't need me to tell you the last few years have been nothing short of exciting at WVU. I have had the opportunity and privilege to be at every one of the Mountaineers games over the last three seasons home and away.

Who can forget the excitement of the amazing comeback against Louisville in 2005 to win in triple overtime? The 2006 game against Rutgers was also exciting. Another triple overtime win, and this one propelled the Mountaineers to another Gator Bowl.

But my favorite moment was covering the 2005 team and enjoying the Sugar Bowl followed by the celebration. You could not help but be so happy for those players. We get to know them fairly well during the course of a season. That was a lot of fun.

Greg Chandler

This will be my fourth season covering WVU Football, and when I look back on my time with the program a few moments come to mind.
